Co-curated in 2016 by Gareth Evans (Whitechapel Gallery) and Nora Foster (Frieze), the selected programme of short works explore the singular legacy of the Swedish philosopher, scientist and mystic Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772), a seminal influence on Romantic, Symbolist and Surrealist traditions, and in particular the great English artist William Blake.
The only film festival in the world inspired by the work of a single philosopher, the Swedenborg Film Festival takes place in Swedenborg House—archive, publisher and ‘one of London’s most atmospheric venues’ (Guardian).
THE SWEDENBORG FILM FESTIVAL is curated by Gareth Evans, writer, presenter, producer (Patience: After Sebald;By Our Selves and Unseen) and Film Curator at the Whitechapel Gallery, London; and Nora Foster, Communications Co-ordinator, Frieze and formerly Assistant Curator, The Swedenborg Society.

Cultural Decay Rate: Essays on Contemporary Art, Literature and Social Disintegration
by John David Ebert
This book, a sort of “John David Ebert Reader,” collects and gathers his most recent essays, displaying a broad range of topics from spree killers to disappearing planes; from the disintegrative effects of technology upon society to ruminations on contemporary art and literature; and also includes a section on the cult and culture of the multi-media celebrity. These essays, never before published in book form, show the broad range of Ebert’s thought and give the reader a sense of his wide grasp upon the various cultural phenomena of contemporary post-historic society.
Featuring Glitch Christ cover art and essays on Glitch Christ and [cthorsion scrypt fantomsens].

Exploring Memory, Time, Space and Identity in relation to the blurred boundaries between digital and the 'real'.

Green Screen Self Study
Being today is "being-digitized", one does not exist unless one has been replaced by a simulacrum of oneself. The screens plane liquifies into narcissus's reflecting pool alluding to the dangers and cognitive dissonance media can cause. Previous models of the Self are replaced by a creation of technicity and artifice, a fluid disintegrating river of selfhood that can be manipulated at will. Chroma key green screen is a technique used to place subjects in artificial environments. The background which is usually omitted becomes a cgi zone of potentialities that pictorially invades the subject/self, blurring the boundaries between digital environments and physical selves. Portrait becomes detrait which is overcoded by asignifying swarms of flows, affects, time displacements, slit scans and motion algorithm glitches.
